Welcome!
I have created this site to highlight my calligraphy work in Old, Middle, and Modern English; OE, ME, and MnE respectively. This work grew out of a love for the Manuscript Tradition acquired through my undergraduate studies in OE, ME, and Latin.
When I began my hobby as a 'scribe,' in 1999, there were few easily accesible resources to view original manuscripts from the Anglo-saxon and Medieval Periods. So, I began learning the script styles, Insular Minuscule, Gothic, Batarde, etc., and creating my own renditions of extant texts as found in my numerous study guides and textbooks (see Bibliography).

The Manuscripts:
The primary goal of Archaicnib.com is to allow users to view my calligraphy manuscripts. Use the top menu bar to select a manuscript to view; you can choose by either the Language, or the Script type. If you are not already familiar with Old and Middle English, or the Script styles noted above, it is recommended that you view the lettering guide on the Reading Guide page.
Individual manuscript leaves can be viewed in a large format, zoomable viewer by clicking on a leaf's thumbnail image from its main page. The chosen manuscript leaf will open a new page; use your browser's 'back' button to return to the preceeding page.
See the About page for information about the Scribe, Contact information, and Terms of Use for the materials presented on this website.
